As part of Former Child Stars week, E! profiles Cam Geary. All his life, he was an illustrious teen heartthrob. The ultimate pin-up boy, rivaled only by JTT and Leonardo DiCaprio, Cam won the hearts of millions of American teenagers for years. With his lavish blond locks (which he keeps dieing), deep eyes, and seductive charm, who could not fall head-over-heels with this man?

Well, Cam Geary will gladly tell you who hasn’t fallen head-over-heels. It seems that being a young actor is tough work. Cam started acting at the age of two, first staring in a commercial for hot dog wieners. From then on, the offers kept piling up. From the ages of five to thirteen, Cam had supporting roles, alongside A-list actors such as Al Pacino, Ben Kingsley, and Burt Reynolds. And finally – the breakthrough role came in. Cam starred a reckless teenage boy in the classic "Grumble Fish”. It was an instant critical praise and earned him a Young Actors’ award for Best Male Lead. Girls flocked to the theatre to see Cam ride on a motorcycle and slick back his hair. From then on, it was success after success. Box-office smash after smash. Photo shoot after photo shoot. Interview after interview. Receiving bras in the fan mail after another.

Cam savored every single minute of it. Sure, he could play the sensitive guy to his legion of fans. But behind the scenes was different. There are three obsessions that pervade Hollywood: Hardcore drugs, booze and sex. And sweet little Cam fell for the sex. Come on, he was a pubescent boy desired by attractive women everywhere. It was bound to happen. Cam also discovered he had a fixation for cross-dressing. He would attend the big Hollywood parties, drunk, stoned and unrecognizable as a woman. It was all fine and secretive… until the tabloids caught on. His blooming career shattered, his innocent image torn apart. He was only eighteen.

Cam Geary is just another victim on a long list of failed teen actors. His attempts to revive his career included failed sitcoms (He tried to do Perfect Strangers 2) and commercials for Dell (he was the original Dell dude). In this E!
